Academic Excellence With a Purpose
BHUSD should be known for academic excellence and high expectations.
Our schools must remain focused on the fundamentals of a strong education: reading, writing, mathematics, science, history, and critical thinking. Students should graduate with the knowledge, discipline, and skills necessary to succeed in college, the workforce, and life.
I will support rigorous academic standards, measurable goals, and programs that challenge students at every level. Clear grade-level expectations. Consistency between classrooms. Earlier identification of learning gaps. Targeted tutoring tied to specific skills. More writing across the curriculum. Strong mathematical foundations. Opportunities for advanced students to move ahead. Regular public reporting of academic outcomes. When students are struggling, we should identify the problem early and provide meaningful support. When students are excelling, we should provide opportunities for them to advance.
Academic achievement should remain at the center of every major decision made by the School Board.
