Fiscal Responsibility

BHUSD has significant resources, and with those resources comes an obligation to spend taxpayer dollars carefully.

Every major expenditure should be evaluated with the same basic questions: Is it necessary? Is it reasonably priced? Does it directly benefit students? Are we receiving appropriate value for what we are spending?

The Board must provide serious oversight of construction, modernization, professional contracts, consultants, administrative spending, and long-term financial commitments.

Large public projects require particular scrutiny because even small percentage overruns can translate into millions of dollars.

I will bring my professional experience reviewing budgets, contracts, investments, and complex transactions to the Board and will not hesitate to ask difficult questions when the numbers do not make sense.

Fiscal responsibility means protecting both our students and our taxpayers.

Our campuses should also be clean, attractive, functional, well maintained, and designed with respect for the neighborhoods surrounding them. Beverly Hills should expect both educational excellence and responsible stewardship of its public facilities.
